Train My Camera

Draft guide

Connect Shopify to Train My Camera

Sync your product catalog automatically into Train My Camera. The connection is read-only, and you can test it free with up to 20 items on the Free plan.

Before you start

Make sure you are a Train My Camera team owner or admin, then have these Shopify details ready.

  • Your Shopify admin login.
  • Your store's myshopify.com domain, such as mystore.myshopify.com.
  • A Train My Camera team where you are an owner or admin.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Open Checkout sync. In Train My Camera, switch to the right team, open Manage, then choose Checkout sync.
  2. Choose Shopify. Select Shopify and enter your store's myshopify.com domain.
  3. Approve access. Click Connect Shopify, sign in to Shopify when asked, and approve the read-only access request.
  4. Review products. Back in Train My Camera, click Review products. This reads Shopify products and variants before changing the Train My Camera catalog.
  5. Choose scope. Select all active products, selected product types or categories, or individual products and variants. The selected active count is checked against your Train My Camera item limit before sync.
  6. Choose image handling. Decide whether Shopify variant or product images should be prepared as Train My Camera example photos.
  7. Save and sync. Click Save setup and sync now. Later manual syncs and automatic sync use the saved selection.

Provider facts used by this connector

  • Train My Camera requests only read_products, read_inventory, and read_locations.
  • Products and variants are read through the Shopify Admin GraphQL API.
  • Shopify product and variant GIDs remain the sync identity.
  • Train My Camera prefers a variant image when one exists and falls back to the product featured image.

What syncs

Train My Camera imports the fields that exist in your Shopify catalog. Empty fields stay empty in Train My Camera.

Train My Camera field Shopify source
Name Product title and variant title.
Category Product type or category where available.
Display price Variant price.
SKU Variant SKU.
Barcode Variant barcode, UPC, EAN, or GTIN where stored in Shopify.
Provider identity Shopify product and variant GIDs.
Image Variant image first, then product featured image.
Inventory context Inventory quantity where available from the read-only inventory scope.
Sizes and variants Sizes group under one Train My Camera item with a size picker when the provider exposes size-level data. Size options do not count against the item limit.

Read-only reassurance

Train My Camera never writes to Shopify. Product names, prices, SKUs, barcodes, categories, images, inventory, orders, and checkout settings stay owned by your POS. Edit those details in Shopify, then run Sync now or leave automatic sync enabled for the saved selection.

Troubleshooting

Shopify says the shop domain is invalid

Use the myshopify.com domain, not your public storefront domain. For example, enter mystore.myshopify.com.

The approval screen does not appear

Confirm you can sign in to the Shopify admin for that store, then retry from Manage -> Checkout sync -> Shopify.

The preview has products but no barcodes

Shopify barcodes live on variants. Items without variant barcodes in Shopify simply show no barcode.

Variant images are missing

Train My Camera falls back to the product featured image. Add manual Train My Camera examples for variants that need more specific recognition photos.
